First Line Fridays

I love novella collections, so when I spotted this one, I thought I would choose this book for today's FLF.  I have read several books by these authors, and they are all so good.  It's always nice to see a group of writers' stories together in one book.  Do you enjoy novellas?  Let me know some of your favorites in the comments below.  Happy reading friends!

Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Today I am going to post a line from:

                                                                                                       Mail-Order Mishaps
by Susan Page Davis, Linda Ford,
                                                          Vickie McDonough, and Erica Vetsch

And the first line is...

The Bride's Dilemma
by Susan Page Davis

Cheyenne, Wyoming, 1883

"With his mail-order bride arriving tomorrow, Caleb didn't need any distractions, least of all a fight.  But as he passed the open stable door, a yelp jerked him out of his reverie."

 Happy reading and happy Friday!

Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books  to see who else is participating!

  3. I like the new cover format for Barbour collections, the old was fine too but it's nice to mix things up a bit! I'm currently reading The Reluctant Guardian by Susanne Dietze... "With a furtive pat, Gemma Lyfeld blotted her nerve-damp palms on her white muslin gown."

Today on my blog I featured A Reluctant Bride by Jody Hedlund which I just finished last night. My next read is going to be Where Hope Begins by Catherine West so I'll share that first line here: "My husband is leaving me." I think I'm in for an intense read! Hope you have a wonderful weekend with some quality reading time :)

  7. I'm really not a novella fan, but I recently read P. S. Goodbye by Tari Faris! Today I'm sharing the first lines from Wooing Cadie McCaffrey by Bethany Turner: "Four years ago, on my thirtieth birthday, I had two very important realizations."
