I love novella collections, so when I spotted this one, I thought I would choose this book for today's FLF. I have read several books by these authors, and they are all so good. It's always nice to see a group of writers' stories together in one book. Do you enjoy novellas? Let me know some of your favorites in the comments below. Happy reading friends!

Today I am going to post a line from:
by Susan Page Davis, Linda Ford,
Vickie McDonough, and Erica Vetsch
And the first line is...
The Bride's Dilemma
by Susan Page Davis
Cheyenne, Wyoming, 1883
"With his mail-order bride arriving tomorrow, Caleb didn't need any distractions, least of all a fight. But as he passed the open stable door, a yelp jerked him out of his reverie."
Happy reading and happy Friday!
Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!
Over on my blog, I'm sharing the first line from A Reluctant Bride by Jody Hedlund. Here I'll share with you the first line from chapter 4 of the same book.
ReplyDelete"Mercy stood in the long line of tenants waiting for a turn at the water spigot at the back of the building."
This looks like a great book! There are so many wonderful books coming out this summer. :) Happy reading Trisha!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteToday on my blog I am sharing the first line from Summer by the Tides by Denise Hunter: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/05/30/first-line-friday-89/. I am currently on chapter 4, so I will share a line from there.
"The sun was almost overhead by the time Connor has a moment to breathe."
Hope you have a great weekend. Happy reading! 🤗💚📚
I would love to be hanging out in the hammock that is on the front cover of this book right now. :) Happy reading Nicole!
DeleteI like the new cover format for Barbour collections, the old was fine too but it's nice to mix things up a bit! I'm currently reading The Reluctant Guardian by Susanne Dietze... "With a furtive pat, Gemma Lyfeld blotted her nerve-damp palms on her white muslin gown."
ReplyDeleteI know! Every time publishers repackage books, they just look better and better! As you know, Love Inspired Historical books are some of my favorites to read. :) Happy reading Beth!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteToday on my blog I featured A Reluctant Bride by Jody Hedlund which I just finished last night. My next read is going to be Where Hope Begins by Catherine West so I'll share that first line here: "My husband is leaving me." I think I'm in for an intense read! Hope you have a wonderful weekend with some quality reading time :)
Wow! That is an intense first line! Happy reading Becca!
DeleteHappy Friday! This was a fun collection. :) I'm sharing from Kelly Irvin's Through the Autumn Air on my blog today. Here is the second sentence:
ReplyDelete"Mary Katherine Ropp stood motionless in the middle of her kitchen, a platter holding a two-layer German chocolate cake covered in whipped cream cheese frosting nestled in her hands."
Ok, I would love to have a piece of that cake! :) Happy reading Yvette!
DeleteHappy Weekend! My first line is from "When Love Blossoms: Book 2 of the Kindred Lake Series" by Elaine Stock:
ReplyDelete"Kierra Madden grasped the phone tighter in both disbelief and gratitude."
Oh goodness, what happened? I hope it was good news! Happy reading Becky!
DeleteI'm really not a novella fan, but I recently read P. S. Goodbye by Tari Faris! Today I'm sharing the first lines from Wooing Cadie McCaffrey by Bethany Turner: "Four years ago, on my thirtieth birthday, I had two very important realizations."

I love the front cover of Turner's new book--mostly because it is pink! :) Happy reading Jolene!
