First Line Fridays

I can't believe Christmas is only four days away!  Thankfully I am ready--all the presents are wrapped, all the Christmas cards are sent, and I have even been able to squeeze in a few Christmas activities.  :)  The one last thing I need to do is Christmas baking, which is one of my very favorite activities.  Oh, and I almost forgot, I built a gingerbread house this year!  Not just any gingerbread house too--a Starbucks gingerbread house.  :)  I will have pictures of it on my Instagram.  :)

Since we are at the end of December, I wanted to post another Christmas book.  I thought this might be my last Christmas text, but I think I will highlight one next week too.  :)  What do you think?

I have loved getting to know each and every one of you this past year.  Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and for all of your lovely comments.  I pray each of you have the Merriest of Christmases and a Happy New Year!

Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Today I am going to post a line from:

I'll Be Home for Christmas: Four Inspirational Holiday Novellas
by Belle Calhoune, Jill Kemerer, Allie Pleither, and
Lendra Worth

And the first line is...

Sugarplums and Second Chances
by Jill Kemerer

"Chase McGill had officially become the odd man out."

Happy reading, happy Friday, and Happy Christmas!

Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books  to see who else is participating!

  1. It has been FAR too hot to think about baking around here. 40+ degrees Celsius (104+ Fahrenheit)! Eek!

On my blog, I'm featuring the first line from a fun Christmas read called 'Tinsel in a Tangle' by Laurie Germaine, but here, I'm going to share the first line from another Christmas book I recently finished, this one by Chautona Havig, called 'Carol and the Belles':

"I'll never get off this plane."

Have a wonderful Christmas, and enjoy all that yummy baking!

    1. Oh my goodness! I never realized that it got that hot in Australia! I couldn't bake in those temperatures either. :) Have a very Merry Christmas!

  3. I enjoyed this collection.

    Next up on my TBR...
The music seeped into her sould like fog over the Thames. (from A Song Unheard by Roseanna M. White)

    Merry Christmas!

  4. Happy Friday!

My FLF comes from a book I’m reading now Secrets of the Tulip Sisters by Susan Mallery.

Kelly Murphy was willing to accept certain injustices in the world. That brownies had more calories than celery.

    Happy Holidays!

  6. I really like that cover. I will have to check this book out.

    Merry Christmas!

Today on my blog I am featuring Desert Duet by Debra Marvin. I'm just beginning chapter 3, so I will leave the first line from that chapter.

"The new gray fedora, with its crisp, black grosgrain band, would be a stylish, but dismal failure at preventing sunburn."

I'm really enjoying this story! Happy Friday. 😊

  7. What a unique cover ~ I love it! Very cozily romantic. <3 Yes, I think you should feature another Christmas book next week -- Christmas comes but once a year... We might as well prolong the season. :-)
Over on my blog, I'm featuring Monster by Frank Peretti, but over here, I'll share the first line of another on my TBR pile, The Cottage by Michael Phillips: "The letter two weeks before had been brief. Less than half a page. Yet in an instant it had turned her life upside down."
Merry Christmas, Heather ~ May God give you many reminders of His love in Christ Jesus throughout.

  8. Starbucks do gingerbread houses? How cool!

I love your first line - I'll have to check that collection out.

I'm sharing from All is Bright by Andrea Grigg over on my blog, a wonderful novella set in Australia ... which means a summer Christmas (FYI, that's normal for me. Not so normal for most of you, or for my Icelandic pastor and his family.)

I'm currently reading A Sweethaven Christmas by Courtney Walsh, an new favourite author. Here's the first line:

"Why is that woman staring over here?" Lila shifted in the tall-backed linen-covered chair and nodded towards a blonde woman at the bar.

I suspect this is going to be more than a Christmas story ...

Blessings as you celebrate the birth of our Saviour this week!

  10. I dig the cover. I also love shirt sleeves that are longer than my arms (when on sweatshirts and other cozy-type clothing). Weird observation to make, I know, but I'm a weirdo so it makes sense, right?

Merry Christmas Heather, I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
