I was looking at my Christmas books that are on my Kindle, and I came across this text. Anyone who knows me will already know cookies are my favorite dessert, and Christmas cookies are an extra special treat! Baking is also something I love to do, so it is always lovely to be able to bake gingerbread and sugar cookies this time of the year. Do you enjoy baking? If so, I would love to hear about it. Please feel free to share any fun recipes in the comments below, and I will add your creations to my recipe section on my blog. :)

Today I am going to post a line from:
A Cookie Girl Christmas
by Christene Houston
And the first line is...
"'Call out the Cost Guard, I think we're out of buttercream.' I smoothed a strand of golden hair behind one ear, straightening my apron and searching the room in a careful review."
Happy reading, happy Friday, and Happy Christmas!
Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!
Oh no! Not the buttercream! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI’m sharing the first line from The House on Foster Hill by Jaime Jo Wright on my blog today, but at the moment, I’m reading ‘Beneath the Blackberry Moon’ by April Gardiner, so I’m going to share the first few lines of that here:
“From inside the cool, shadowy wood, Totka Lawe squinted into a bright meadow. Its broad sea of undulating bromegrass lay empty. Deceptive.”
My feelings exactly! Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteIt was days like this, when the sun bounced off Lake Superior with an eye-squinting brilliance, that Bree Nicholls forgot all her qualms about living where the Snow King ruled nine months of the year. - Without a Trace by Colleen Coble
Goodness--such suspense! Merry Christmas!
DeleteThat cover is so cute and the first line makes me hungry! Here's the first line of my current read, Too Far Down by Mary Connealy:
ReplyDeleteSkull Gulch, New Mexico Territory
February 1881
An explosion brought Cole Boden to his feet.
Oh my! That doesn't sound good! Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteFunny first line!
Today on my blog, I am sharing the first line from My Heart Belongs in Niagara Falls, New York: Adele's Journey. I am currently on chapter 14, so I will share the first three lines from that chapter here.
"'Are you busy?' Adele looked up from the book lying in her lap. Uncle Osbourne stood at the threshold of the library."
Say of course I'm busy--I'm reading a book...lol. :) I can't wait to read this book--it sounds so interesting. Merry Christmas!
DeleteLove this cover and what a great first line!
ReplyDeleteThe first line from the next book I'm reading is:
It was no surprise to me that I'd lost track of time.
from A Song of Home by Susie Finkbeiner
Thanks Suzie! Merry Christmas!

You're welcome Betty! Merry Christmas!
DeleteI like making funfetti cookies because I love using sprinkles. For Christmas I use red and green sprinkles. :) This book looks like one I might want to add to my ever growing list of Christmas reads.
ReplyDeleteI love sprinkles too! I always add them to my ice-cream. :) Thanks for the recipe tip! Merry Christmas!
DeleteLove the cover, and the #FirstWorldProblems!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading Engaging The Competition by Melissa Jagears. Here's the first line:
Harrison Gray had never heard of anyone holding a competition over mounting or dismounting a horse, but then, Charlotte Andrews could turn anything into a contest.
This looks like an amazing book--love the synopsis! Merry Christmas!
