I hope everyone is having a lovely August. I confess, the end of August is typically sad for me, because I do not want summer to end--it is my favorite season. I love the bright colors, the flip-flops, and the days that last longer. However, Christmas is the highlight for the winter. :) What about you? Do you prefer summer, or does another season bring back fond memories? As always, happy reading, which of course you can do in any season!

Today I am going to post a line from:

by Ada Madison
And the first line is...
"Who thought summer school was a good idea?"
Happy reading and happy Friday!
Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!
Cozy mysteries have such great covers and titles!
ReplyDeleteHere's the first line from Elizabeth Goddard's "Stormy Haven," a Love Inspired Suspense book.
"Only three more miles..."
Happy Friday!
I agree Suzie! Great first line--I want to know what happens next. :) Happy reading!
DeleteI love summer! But I love fall, winter, and spring, too. I'm a four-seasons gal. I only wish winter were a couple months shorter in Michigan. (Ha!) I like the cover of that book. So interesting! The book I'm sharing on my blog is "His Bluestocking Bride" by Sally Britton. Here, I will share the first line from Chapter 17. "Tucked up in her favorite chair by the library fire, Ellen turned the page in an interesting volume on the subject of astronomy." May you be able to fully enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anneliese! I would love to see snow in the winter, which I know you must see more than enough for the both of us. :) I always loved seeing the snow covered trees when I lived in Virginia. Happy reading!
DeleteMy first line comes from The Choice by Robert Whitlow,,,
ReplyDeleteRutland, Georgia, 1974
Sandy Lincoln nervously twirled her long blond hair around her index finger.
Happy Friday and happy reading!

DeleteFall and winter are my favorite seasons. And, I agree that Christmas is the highlight of winter. :)
ReplyDeleteI’m currently reading Elizabeth Maddrey’s Donuts & Daydreams which I’m really enjoying. The first line is “‘Oh, thank goodness you’re still open.'”
I hope you have a nice weekend!

ReplyDeleteMy first two lines are from An Hour Unspent by Roseanna White:
May 11, 1915
Poplar, London, England
Barclay Pearce shouldered his way through the mob, invisible. He’d learned over the years how to blend into any crowd, and this one was no different.
This looks like a great book! I just added it to my Amazon wish list. :) Happy reading Paula!
DeleteI’m sharing lines from A.L. Jackson’s upcoming release More of You on my blog today. It’s a second chance romance.
ReplyDeleteHere, I’ll be sharing lines from My Kinda Forever by Lacey Black.
“It’s a Summer sister tradition that on the first Saturday of each month, the six of us get together. We take turns picking the location or activity, anything from margaritas and a movie to wine and painting classes at the small uptown gallery. One thing, though, is as certain as the sun rising over the Chesapeake Bay every morning: there will be alcohol involved. “
Happy Reading!
Happy reading Janine!
DeleteI'm featuring my newest book by a favorite author, Early Riser by Jasper Fforde. I flipped a bit forward to page 15, so I could share a line:
ReplyDelete"There was an intake of breath. It was the mission statement of the Campaign for Real Sleep, sort of a rallying cry."
Happy Friday!
Ah yes, sleepless nights--it's time to count the Serta sheep. :) Happy reading Yvette!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteThe book I shared this week on my blog is A Changed Agent by Tracey J Lyons. Shockingly I'm not reading a book right now because I finished one last night and was gone all day today. This won't be a reading weekend for me but I'm enjoying a busy weekend with friends and family. Hope you have a great weekend!
Have a lovely weekend with your friends and family! Happy reading Becca!
DeleteHappy Saturday! 😀
ReplyDeleteYesterday on my blog, I shared the first few lines from Monstrous Beauty by Carol E. Keen. I'm just really getting into the book, so I'll share another line from that book here:
"Tucking an errant group of hair behind her ear, Annabelle Giles planned out her morning."
Hope you have a great weekend filled with excellent reading time! 😀📚
This book sounds interesting--although, the best Beauty and the Beast is the Disney version. :) Amanda Tero wrote a retelling of this story too--still need to read it. Happy reading Nicole!
