One of the books highlighted last week on First Line Fridays was a new book by Carrie Turansky. It comes out next spring, and I cannot wait to read it! There are so many books coming out within the next year--how many new books are you already adding to your Goodreads list?
Even during the rainy weather, I was at the library this week, and I confess it has been ages since I have checked out a book. Typically I buy all of my books...love Kindle deals and used bookstores. :) In fact, I go to a lot of used book sales at the library, and in doing so I forget I can check out books. I know that sounds really silly, but in college all I ever did was check out research and academic books. As an English major, I already owned all of the classic novels. So it was so nice to browse the shelves the other day looking for new books.
Tucked away on one of the lower shelves, I saw this book by Turansky, and decided I would read it as I wait for her new book to come out. It is set in England, so that is all I needed to know. :) As always, please be sure to check out the book lines from these other amazing bloggers too:

"Julia Foster lifted her gaze to the clear October sky as a lark swooped past. Her steps slowed and her thoughts took flight, following the bird as it dipped into the golden trees beyond the meadow."
Happy reading and happy Friday!
Happy Friday!! My first line us from A Matter of Trust by Susan May Warren: "Gage Watson blamed the trouble on the bright, sunny day."
ReplyDeleteFunny line but you should never blame trouble on a beautiful day. :) Happy Friday!
DeleteI just started The Illustionist's Apprentice but it's at home and I'm here at work. (Shhh!)
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I feel your pain. I still need to read that book--I've heard so many wonderful things about it. Happy Friday!
DeleteI can just see that setting in my mind!!
ReplyDeleteI just started Cara Putnam's Beyond Justice. "If he didn't find that flash drive now, he would have to disappear."
I love that first line--such suspense! Happy Friday!

Have a lovely weekend Trisha!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteMy first line comes from Julian Fellowes's Belgravia.
The past, as we have been told so many times, is a foreign country where things are done differently.
What a true statement--we did things differently in the past, because we were different. With age, comes growth and change--as we learn how to do things better in the future. Happy Friday!
DeleteMr.-----. I glanced down at my seating chart, heart drumming in my ears. From Playing by Heart by Anne Mateer.
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely first line--I will have to add this book to my Goodreads list. :) Happy Friday!
DeleteI really must read that book. Adding it to my list!
ReplyDeleteMy first line is from Anne Love’s “The Gardener’s Daughter” in the Of Rags and Riches romance collection.
Thump, Thump. She could plant herself in a library world such as this one forever.
I love when I can add new books to my to-read list! :) I just purchased that book, but I have only read Natalie Monk's story--can't wait to read the others. :) Happy Friday!
