First Line Fridays

Happy almost December everyone!  Christmas is just around the corner, and I am so excited!  This month means spending time with family and friends--friends that unfortunately I do not get to see very often.  It is always lovely to reconnect this time of the year, and obviously, we catch up over a cup of hot tea.  :)

As far as traveling for the holidays, do any of you travel much?  Or is your family close?  Whichever the case, I wish you safe and happy travels...and happy reading of course!

Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Today I am going to post a line from:

  A Yuletide Regency
by Regina Scott, Sarah M. Eden, Jen Johnson,
Annette Lyon, Krista Jensen, and Heather Moore

And the first line is...

Always Kiss at Christmas
by Regina Scott

To all those who hold Christmas in their hearts, and to the Lord, the author of Christmas

Rose Hill, Surrey
Christmas Eve, 1802

"If she couldn't win an offer at Christmas, there was no justice in the world."

Happy reading and happy Friday!

Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books  to see who else is participating!

  1. Regency Christmas? Yes, please!

I'm featuring the first line from Carolyn Miller's latest release, The Making of Mrs Hale, over on my blog today, but at the moment I'm reading Jerusalem's Queen by Angela Hunt:

"They are all here, gathered like vultures around my bed, watching with long faces and occasionally bending near to listen for my breathing."

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Happy Friday!👏

My first lines come from The Patient One by Shelley Shepard Gray.......

“Thank you for coming. I’m so glad you could make it,” Mrs. Warner said as she clasped Katie Steury’s hand between her own. “Andy . . . well, Andy would have been pleased to see you here.”

Have a very relaxing weekend and happy reading!😊

  3. Happy Friday!

Today on my blog I am sharing the first line from The Liberty Bride by Marylu Tyndall. I’m very excited to get into that book. Because I am just starting this novel, I will post the first two lines from chapter 2.

“Captain’s orders. You and Mrs. Keate stay here until it’s safe.”

Hope you have an excellent weekend filled with fantastic reading time! 😃❤️📚

On my blog this week I'm sharing Swimming in the Deep End by Christina Suzann Nelson but I'm currently reading The House Girl by Tara Conklin so I'll share the first line of my current chapter (there's no chapter #s) here: "Do her eyes accuse you?" Hope you have a wonderful weekend with plenty of quality reading time!

  6. Since Nicole and I are reading the same book, I’ll go with the real first line of The Liberty Bride by Marylu Tyndall:
The Atlantic Ocean off the Coast of Virginia August 6, 1814

What would it feel like to drown…to float listlessly down…down…beneath the chilled waters of the Atlantic?

    1. Happy weekend Becky! The title of this story reminds me of Through the Look Glass, and the first line seems to match it. Happy reading and Merry Christmas!
