How was everyone's Thanksgiving yesterday? I hope it was filled with lots of fun and time spent with family and friends. If not though--I remember my college days of going to pick something up at Cracker Barrel--I hope the day was restful.
Were you able to read between the football games and turkey? :) I read a little bit from my Kindle books--just like Rory from Gilmore Girls, I always have a book with me. Have a wonderful weekend and happy Black Friday shopping, Cyber Monday shopping, and most importantly, happy reading!
Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!
Today I am going to post a line from:
A Convenient Engagement
by Ashtyn Newbold
And the first line is...
England, Summer, 1813
"Sunlight came even more rarely than silence through Amelia Buxton's second story window."
Happy reading and happy Friday!
Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!
We had a great day with just our family. Thanks for asking :)
ReplyDeleteI posted about The Plum Blooms in Winter (Linda Thompson) on my blog.
So, I'll share a line from a non-fiction book I am reading.
`The Sparkle Effect` (Kristen Dalton Wolfe)
Chapter 3 (page 15)
"For the longest time, I didn't have a sense of style. I looked to other people and trends to decide what I should wear."
I love that title...The Sparkle Effect. It reminds me of Shirley Temple. Before she would go on to perform, her mother would tell her to sparkle. :) Happy reading Michelle!

ReplyDeleteHere’s my first line from The Making of Mrs. Hale by Carolyn Miller:
Julia Hale lifted a weary hand and rapped on the yellow painted door. Please let me in. please!
I need to catch up on this series! Carolyn Miller's books are lovely. Happy reading Paula!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteOn my blog this week I'm sharing the first line from The Mayflower Bride by Kimberley Woodhouse but I'm currently reading the Amish Midwife's secret by Rachel J Good so I'll share the line from my current chapter (10) here: "By the time Leah arrived at the Groffs', Sharon had already completed the checkup." Hope you have a wonderful weekend with plenty of quality reading time!
Amish stories remind me of the book I just finished...A Christmas Prayer by Wanda Brunstetter. Review coming soon! Happy reading Becca!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteMy first lines come from Hearts In Harmony by Beth Wiseman......
I had never been to an Englisch funeral before today. I’ve only been to one funeral , when Uncle John died last year. But I’m only ten so maybe that’s why. This funeral was different from Uncle John’s. There were a lot of flowers inside the church and people singing.
Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!😊💕
So sad! Happy reading Susan!
DeleteHappy Friday and Happy Weekend! My first line (and 3rd line because I love this line) is from "Reaching Her Heart" by Kimberly Rae Jordan:
ReplyDelete"Tristan Callaghan moved to the side of the long hallway to let a young couple pass, giving them a smile and a nod before continuing on... What on earth had possessed him to agree to teach Sunday School to seven and eight-year-old boys?"
Haha...I've wondered that too during times I have taught Sunday school or English. :) Happy reading Becky!
DeleteI love Regency romance, so this sounds like it's my kind of book.
ReplyDeleteI'm sharing the first line from Ashmore by Angela Curtis on my blog today. It's her debut novel, and it's based on the real-life journey her ancestors took when emigrating from England to New Zealand. It makes me thankful for our modern world where we have cleaner and faster methods of transport!
"One half-witted decision changed Lillie Curtis' life forever. Unfortunately, that decision had not been her own."
Happy reading!
I completely agree Iola! I cannot imagine traveling by boat across any ocean. Happy reading!
DeleteI'm currently reading a Regency also! I'm loving it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can stop by:
