First Line Fridays

Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Today I am going to post a line from:

  Engaging Sir Isaac
by Sally Britton

And the first line is...

May 1815

"The cream of London society never played fair.  Despite years of trying to adhere to the rules, both those spoken and unspoken, Millicent Wedgewood had given in at last to her mother's demands to stop following the rules."

Happy reading and happy Friday!

Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see                                                                  who else is participating!

  1. Happy Friday!

I really love this line, it definitely sounds like an interesting read!

On my blog today, I'm sharing the first line from The Inheritance by Michael Phillips:

"On a late afternoon of a surprisingly warm day, a small lad sat on a large stone with the blue of sky and water spreading out before him."

Hope you stay safe and healthy and have a great rest of your weekend :)

"They were coming, and he knew they were coming, and he knew why - they were coming to kill him and to kill the president and to kill anyone else who got in their way. They were coming to settle scores."
