Happy Friday friends! How is your summer going thus far? Have you had any exciting plans or adventures? This is my favorite season, and I love to travel, but I also love that this time of the year delivers time to read more books! As you know mysteries are my favorite genre, and today's FLF is from a book I just discovered. I can't wait to read this one--happy reading!
Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!
Today I am going to post a line from:
by Darlene Franklin, Cynthia Hickey, Elizabeth Ludwig, Dana Mentink,
Candice Prentice, and Janice Thompson
And the first line is...
Coffee, Tea, or Murder
by Cynthia Hickey
"The store definitely needed a new sign. I stared up at the faded plastic rectangle with the hand-painted words THE COFFEE PERK across its surface."
Happy reading and happy Friday!
Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!
Happy Friday! My first line is from “Kate’s Song” by Jennifer Beckstrand:
ReplyDelete“Is he dead? Please tell me he’s not dead!”
Happy reading Becky!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteOn my blog I'm sharing the first line from Underestimating Miss Cecelia by Carolyn Miller: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/07/18/first-line-friday-94/.
Today, I'm currently reading The Spice King by Elizabeth Camden. It's an excellent story that I highly recommend! I'm just starting chapter 34, so I'll share from there.
"Gray rarely took the time to read The Washington Post first thing in the morning."
Hope you have an excellent weekend!!! 😀❤📚
There are several books that I want to read by Carolyn Miller right now. :) Happy reading Nicole!
DeleteWhat an adorable cover! Here's the first line from my current read, Just One Kiss by Courtney Walsh: "Carly Collins hated running late."
ReplyDeleteAny time coffee is on the cover, that is a great book cover! :) Happy reading Beth!
DeleteI love that cover! I’m currently reading Andrew by Jennifer Beckstrand and LOVING IT! I loved the first line of chapter three so I’ll share that line. ” Alfie Benaiah Petersheim, get that cat off my table!”
ReplyDeleteHaha...what a great line! Cats do have a mind of their own, don't they? :) Happy reading Ellie!
DeleteCoffee and mysteries? Sold!
ReplyDeleteI'm sharing the first line from Underestimating Miss Cecilia by Carolyn Miller on my blog today - it seems to be a popular choice!
I'm currently reading Fatal Strike by DiAnn Mills. Here's the first line:
Special Agent Leah Riesel scanned the headlines on her phone.
That's a little underwhelming, but the first chapter includes a shoot-out in a hostage situation, so it ramps up the action quickly.
Happy reading!
I completely agree Iola! Happy reading!
DeleteHappy Friday! Since I’m sharing from chapter 1 of Yours Truly, Thomas by Rachel Fordham on my blog today, here is the first line from the prologue:
ReplyDelete“After letting an involuntary squeal escape, Penny pulled the yellowed papers closer and pressed her lips to them.”
This is the perfect line to lead into a great story! Happy reading Yvette!
DeleteToday on my blog I shared the first line from Storm Rising by Ronie Kendig but I'm currently reading Fragments of Fear by Carrie Stuart Parks so I'll share the first line from my current chapter (8) here: "Marley was sitting by the door in the living room when Travis returned." Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of reading time! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Becca! Happy reading!
DeleteAn interesting opening line! I’m sharing on my blog the first line from At First Spark by Liwen Y. Ho.
