First Line Fridays

Good morning friends--I hope everyone is having a great start to June!  Is is hot where you are?  I love getting outside in order to enjoy the sunshine and to take a long walk.  It just lifts your spirits!  What are some fun things you like to do this time of the year?  Do you have any travel plans?  As always, have a wonderful week and happy reading!

Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Today I am going to post a line from:

  More Than Words Can Say
by Karen Witemeyer

And the first line is...

May 1896--Honey Grove, TX

"'The council has denied your appeal, Miss Kemp.'  Mayor Longfellow delivered the blow with a finality that threatened to buckle Abigail's knees."

Happy reading and happy Friday!

Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!

  5. I enjoyed this one!

Sorry I'm late coming around. My internet went down yesterday and it's been mostly down since then. They're sending someone out Monday to figure out what's going on. On my blog this week I featured The Brides of Big Valley by Wanda, Jean, and Richelle Brunstetter but I am currently reading Tate by Susan May Warren so I'll share the first line from chapter 4 here: "With one article of clothing, Glo became a new woman." Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of reading time! :)
