This week's book is from a wonderful series by Jennifer Delamere, and I am so excited to read her newest book, The Artful Match. Review coming soon! This particular story is still set in London--just the first novel, The Captain's Daughter--and follows Julia Bernay. If you have read the first book, then you will recall the main character's name was Rosalyn Bernay. Perhaps they are related? You will have to read the books to find out! Happy reading friends!
Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!
Today I am going to post a line from:
The Heart's Appeal
And the fist line is...
February 1881
"Julia Bernay was going to be late."
Happy reading and happy Friday!
Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!
I love the time period of the book you're featuring today. The cover is lovely also. On my blog, I'm featuring Hillbrooke, God's Rewrite by Beverely Joy Roberts. This is such a great series and she's quite the storyteller. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anneliese! I love stories set in London. :) Have a wonderful weekend too!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteOn my blog I am sharing the first couple of lines from Delicate Balance by Brooke St. James: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/04/04/first-line-friday-82/. It's a really sweet book I highly recommend. Currently, I am reading A Silken Thread by Kim Vogel Sawyer, so I will share the first line from chapter 7.
"'Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.' Willie gave a little jolt. The preacher read on, but the second verse of Galatians 6 seemed to bounce off the wood-planked walls and echo in Willie's mind."
Hope you have a great weekend. Happy reading!
Sawyer's books are great. :) Happy weekend and happy reading Nicole!
DeleteI'm going to get through this series ASAP! This happens to be one of my favorite covers too!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a marvelous plan Debra! Happy reading!
DeleteHappy Friday! I'm sharing from Up from the Sea by Amanda Dykes on my blog today. This is the first line from my current read, In the Shadow of Croft Towers by Abigail Wilson:
ReplyDelete"I often wonder what my life would have been like if I had never learned the truth."
Startling statement but definitely one I'm sure many have pondered. Happy reading and happy weekend Yvette!
DeleteToday I'm sharing the first lines from What If It's True? by Charles Martin:
ReplyDelete"He is stumbling now. A trail of blood marks His serpentine path on the narrow street out of the city."
