First Line Fridays

I read and reviewed All Summer Long by Melody Carlson a couple of years ago--it was a really good story--so I was excited to find the other book in the series.  Well actually, there are three books in the series, but I ordered this one first.  :)  I know we are not in the summer months yet, but I thought this would be the perfect book to accompany the spring weather that some of the country is enjoying.

I hope it is warm where you are, but that is only because I prefer sunny days to cold ones.  :)  Yet I will say, the weather has been so strange this past year.  It can be thirty degrees one day and then eighty degrees the next!  Anyways, enough of the weather...lol, I can't wait to read this next story by Carlson, and I recommend checking out All Summer Long when you have a spare moment to read a new book.  :)

Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Today I am going to post a line from:

  Under a Summer Sky
by Melody Carlson

And the fist line is...

"Nicole Anderson had no idea why her mother had slipped into the back of her art classroom this afternoon, but because this seventh period class was half over, Nicole pretended not to notice."

Happy reading and happy Friday!

Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books  to see who else is participating!

  1. I love Melody Carlson's books! Great choice!!

    Happy Friday!!

My FLF comes from a book I’m hoping to get to soon, Looking for a Hero by Debbie Macomber.

Savannah Charles watched the young woman wandering around her bridal shop, checking prices and looking more discouraged by the moment. Her shoulders slumped and she bit her lip when she read the tag on the wedding gown she’d selected.

    Have a great weekend!!

    1. I purchases several books by Debbie Macomber as a library sale last year, but I haven't had a chance to read them yet--this looks like a lovely book though. Intriguing beginning lines! I think some of her books have even become Hallmark movies. :) Happy Saturday!

  4. This is on my TBR as well!

I’m sharing about “Across the Blue” by Carrie Turansky on the blog today. My first line will come from “Keturah” by Lisa T. Bergren since it’s the closest book to me.

  5. It's summer in New Zealand, and although we've had some awful weather this week (thanks to ex-cyclone Gita), it's now Saturday morning and the day is bright and sunny. I think I'll go to the beach later (it's great place to read!).

I'm sharing the first line from If I'm Found by Terri Blackstock on my blog today, but I'm about to start reading The Winsome Miss Winthrop by Carolyn Miller, which releases in March. Here's the first line:

The deeply blue Gloucestershire sky brought comfort as Catherine Winthrop emerged from the tenant farmhouse.

I love Carolyn Miller's books, so I'm looking forward to reading this. Have a great weekend!

  6. These books from Melody Carlson are great summer reads. This one made me want to visit Savannah for sure!

This is the one I just started:

Not much had changed about Laurel Cove, North Carolina in the ten years since Livy Johnson had last visited. (Someplace Familiar by Teresa Tysinger)

I'm sharing from Michelle Griep's The Innkeeper's Daughter on my blog today, so here are the first two lines from one of my other current reads, Winter in Thrush Green by Miss Read:

"Autumn had come early to Thrush Green. The avenue of horse-chestnuts, which ran across its northerly end, blazed like a bonfire."

The Heaven Answer Book by Billy Graham. The first line in the Preface is “One of the Bible’s greatest truths is that we were not meant for this world alone. We were meant for Heaven — and Heaven is our ultimate home. But what exactly is Heaven?” I wish you a wonderful weekend.

  12. Happy Saturday Heather! we were supposed to be in a winter weather advisory, but then we barely got any snow. It was kind of sleet-y/rainy, but not. It's weird. Nebraska weather is dumb. I miss Minnesota winters.
