Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Today I am going to post a line from:

  Quilt or Innocence
by Elizabeth Craig

And the first line is...

"'I've come to rescue you,' said the wild-looking woman at Beatrice's front door."

Happy reading and happy Friday!

Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to

  2. My first line is from Acceptable Risk by Lynette Eason

    Chapter 2
    September. Helmed Province, Afghanistan

Sarah Denning sat on the dirt floor of the Afghani prison cell and shivered in the hinety-degree heat, fighting the fear that had been her constant companion since the Taliban had attacked the school yesterday.

  4. I'm currently reading The London Restoration by Rachel McMillan. I'm just beginning chapter 10, so I'll share from there:
"The only other time Diana had been at Brent's flat -her flat- in Clerkenwell alone was when she was packing her suitcase to leave for Buckinghamshire."
I hope you have a great weekend! 😀❤📚

  6. Okay, this is a little more than a first line . . . Ha! This is from the book I'll be releasing this fall, called It's a Mad, Mad Murder, the first in my Maddie Montgomery mystery series. So blessed to be writing these fun books!

Blaze knew she needed a weapon and she needed one fast, thanks to the crash of breaking glass on the floor above her, a sound that had alerted her to the incoming danger. Yet before she went in search of some implement of self-defense, she took a protective glance at the chocolate soufflé rising nicely in the oven. Of all the rude, inconsiderate times for a mass murderer to break into her
    home . . .
