First Line Fridays

This week I want to post a line from one of my Kindle books.  I confess that not only do I have a to-be-read list for my print books, I also have a list for my Kindle books as well!  There are so many $.99 books on Amazon I consistently purchase...the book list is growing.  Do any of you have a never ending to-be-read list for your Kindle novels?  As always, please be sure to check out the book lines from these other amazing bloggers too:

Sydney from Singing Librarian
Rachel from Bookworm Mama
Andie from Radiant Light
Katie from Fiction Aficionado
Kathleen from Kathleen Denly
Lauraine from Lauraine's Notes

Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Today I am going to post a line from:

The Pattern Artist
by Nancy Moser

And the first line is...

1911
New York City

""Annie Wood!  I demand you wipe that ridiculous smile off your face.  Immediately.'  Annie yanked her gaze away from the view out of the carriage and pressed a hand across her mouth to erase the offending smile."

Happy reading and Happy Friday!

My first line comes from A Heart So True by Dorothy Love. This is the first story in Among The Fair Magnolias collection.

    Pawleys Island, South Carolina
    May 1860

HAD WADE BENNETT TRULY FORGIVEN HER?

  3. I've never heard of this author, but her book looks interesting.
Yesterday I read Pepper Basham’s book Just the Way You Are ~sigh~ It’s so good that I will read it again soon. My first line:
“One step into the massive, glass-walled waiting area was all it took.”

  5. To celebrate its release day, I will share the first line from
The Patriot and The Loyalist by Angela K. Couch
    South Carolina, November 1780
Daniel Reid slowed his horse and sucked air into his lungs as he reined to the road’s grassy edge.

There are not enough hours left in the world for me to finish all the books on my Kindle, yet that does not stop me from getting more!

  6. I have a rather substantial TBR collection on my Kindle... On the up side, if we ever have to enter a nuclear bunker, I will have plenty to do so long as I can keep my iPad charged!

    1. I know...I feel like Rory in Gilmore Girls. I always carry a book with me. Or in this case, I always carry several books with me. :)

  7. Oh goodness, my tbr shelves are bad enough but the Kindle? Talk about intimidating! Have a great weekend, Heather!

  8. OMG yes, the struggle is REAL! I keep track of all my books on Goodreads that are TBR. I have a huge pile of about 60 books on my desk, plus my books for research and writing about Eleanor, and I am now at 500+ on my Kindle. BoobBub has been very addicting for me. Luckily, I have been able to get a lot of the TBR list purchased because of BookBub though. I made a rule for myself though that I would never pay more than $1.99 for a Kindle book, unless it is one that I can't get at my library and I really, really want to read it. Very rarely will I buy one for $2.99. I also made myself promise I would never pay for cozy mysteries, unless the mysteries are a boxed set. It is hard but I am sticking to it!

    1. That is a great rule...only purchase the $.99-$1.99 ebooks. I confess I have purchased a $10.00 ebook! It was the next book in the series I was reading though. :)
