First Line Fridays

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you have had a great start to 2017.  Can you believe that the second week of this year is almost over?  I remember when I was younger people would tell me that time does fly, which of course I never understood.  Waiting for Christmas always seemed to take a lifetime; however, as I get older, I see how true those words are.  Let us all make sure we take the time to cherish each and every day and every moment the Lord gives to us.

It's time for another first line, and this week my first line comes from Kit Kat and Lucy by Lonnie Hull DuPont.  This is a non-fiction book that I will be reviewing on my blog soon--so stay tuned!  As always, please be sure to check out the book lines from these other amazing bloggers too:

Sydney from Singing Librarian
Rachel from Bookworm Mama
Andi from Radiant Light
Katie from Fiction Aficionado

Today I am going to post a line from:

 Kit Kat and Lucy
by Lonnie Hull DuPont

And the first line is...

You will always by lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats.  Colonial American Proverb

"To say moving from San Francisco to rural Michigan was not easy for me would be an understatement."

Happy reading and happy Friday!

    1. Well, because this book is set in England, I am sure it will be a lovely book. :) And I love the first line!

  4. "They share the truth of an experience that only those who were there can truly know. As part of a regiment of southwestern cowpunchers, Oklahoma Indians, Ivy League football stars, and champion polo players, they had faced death boldly and defeated the enemy.

    They had been Rough Riders."

Rough Riders: Theodore Roosevelt, His Cowboy Regiment, and the Immortal Charge Up San Juan Hill by Mark Lee Gardner.

    Happy Friday!!!

    1. Wow! Those are a couple of intense, striking lines. Have you ever watched Blue Bloods? The police commissioner, played by Tom Selleck, loves Teddy Roosevelt. He quotes him periodically throughout the show.

  6. So... I'm not a cat person (my dog would disown me) but that first line helped "unstump" me on some interview questions I was trying to come up with LOL. Thank you :D

  7. Well, my husband will always be lucky then. Cat's love him on first sight!

My first line this week is from Kristi Ann Hunter's 'A Noble Masquerade':

“It is never a happy day when an eight-year-old girl's cheesecake lands in the dirt, and she certainly doesn't take kindly to the laughing little boy who put it there.”

    2. I have this book waiting on my bookshelf to be read. I read An Elegant Façade, which was wonderful--I have a review of this book on my blog. And I just purchased An Uncommon Courtship--so happy to have the entire set! No worries on the typo--we all make typo mistakes. :)
